Adventure in Renovation

They said we will start right after Christmas and by mid January it will be all done!
Not quite!
First there was a machine that broke down,
then a flood in the shop
then of course SNOW
and bad traffic” we won’t make it today”
and so on and so on!

Life is just like that!

We are promised that with this diploma, this job, this person, this house, our life will be perfect, we will be totally happy and perfectly healthy.

And then it happens:
the diploma needs upgrading
the job is far less interesting then we thought it would be
the person is boring
the house is a money pit

What do we do ?

I am sharing Dr William Glasser’s “3 False beliefs” : and how they apply to this situation

1: People make us do things: like get upset, angry, discouraged. We and only we are in control of our behavior and our thinking
No matter how many times the project is postponed I can choose to stay calm and give them the benefit of the doubt.
2. You can control someone else: you can try we anger, sarcasm, denial, blaming, depressing and
withdrawing
I cannot control anyone therefore even if I  try with sarcasm it won’t make it happen faster
3. Not only do I know what’s right for me I know what’s right for everyone else.
if I were them I would hire a better scheduling person. If you believe any of these 3 beliefs it’s time to “renovate” your mind!

You can always choose a different thought or behavior!
You will know if it’s working because you will feel joyful!

Have you ever heard of “stubborn gladness?”

Have an excellent week!
